BREAKFAST WITH THE ORANG-UTANS

On our second day in Singapore we were taken to the Zoo where we had breakfast with the orang-utans It was so much fun being so close to these beautiful creatures. They came with their babies and the keepers gave them breakfast while we had our photos taken. We had our breakfast at the adjoining cafe.

I loved the way they cared for their babies just like we do.

Our village CEO and manager who looked after us on this week long tour of Singapore and Malacca.
After breakfast they swung off into the jungle of the zoo and we did a walking tour.

 White Rhino

The zebras wouldn't pose for me so I took their patterns instead

We all took turns at calling the Meer cats Allen or Steve (from the funny BBC you tube skit)

 Loved its headdress

There was an elephant show. (not sure about the ethics of this)

The rare white tiger wasn't interested in getting its photo taken.

  5. Here's my third attempt to comment. Not sure what google was about. To sum up I wondered what the orangutans thought of breakfasting with you!

  10. A rare white rhino!!!!!!!!!!!
I think recently there was a TV report on these almost extinct animals????????????
I hope that Singapore Zoo has a pair.

Such attractive creatures - those orangutans!
Lucky for you that they have a separate restaurant......I doubt whether if they were let
loose near your table, you'd get nothing.

  13. How amazing, to have breakfast with the orangutans. I've only seen them up close through a glass wall and they seemed very intimidating. We've all seen photos of a whole zebra. I love your zebra stripes!

  15. It looks like a decent zoo.... and I would love to be that close to the orangutans. All of the larger apes (if that is the right term) make me think that maybe they shouldn't be in zoos any more than we should -- they are so like humans. (And but we still visit zoos and appreciate that often that is the only way to save a species).

  16. I am not a fan of zoos but it looks like the orangutans are happy if they are breeding. Another endangered animal. Have a good week and take care. T'other Diane

  17. How special to interact with orang-utans! I bet that's an experience for the memory bank!

I like your creativity with getting a workable zebra shot too, it's a great pic.

  18. We used to visit Singapore for the weekend quite often when I lived in PNG. Also did several visits with work later on but looking at your shots there is so much more to see there these days. Your reportage is wonderful.

  20. The orangutans looked happy! It was good to see a white rhino--they may only exist in zoos someday as they are sadly still being poached indiscriminately. Your zebra photos is very artsy--love it!

  21. Breakfast at the zoo is quite an unusual and fun way to start the day, Diane. I was wondering if you ever did find more information about the elephants as you wondered about the show.
